Walking the fence

I was raised under extreme views and constant restraints. In some cases people like me turned into killers, others turned into Rock and Roll stars.

I stood up for what I believe 100% in the face of constant trial and minor persecution, mostly because I was so different, being from a cult and all.

Those were hard times, I grew up and one day I finally got an opinion of my own which they call bad apples spoiling the bunch. I never have been able to give 100% to any particular belief since then, thus some would say I walk the fence.

My bad apples introduced me to new thinking, new passions, new directions. Other than some sex, cigarrettes and lots of booze I didn't turn out that bad. Infact, I am a pretty good apple these days with my core intact, no rotting however I really do not have strong beliefs, you know ones I can attempt to support with facts. I have passions but those are mostly supported by an inner mechanism, I can not put many words behind those passions.

Wierd! I really do not know why I rebel against things that will make me have a single opinion. Some consider me to walk the fence trying hard not to lean this way nor that. Sometimes I do lean but that is usually someone pushing me to explain but I always strive to get back to the center, where I am grounded.

My strongest belief is in balance, that is my foundation now, that is my tao.

Everything in balance, isn't that what they taught in church/kingdom hall/cynagog /or whatever.

Everything in balance, Yin & Yang - two principles which oppose one another in their actions.

The most important human endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance and even our very existence depend on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to life.
Albert Einstein

It is better to rise from life as from a banquet - neither thirsty nor drunken.
Aristotle

Enough is as good as a feast.
English Proverb

We may outrun
By violent swiftness
And lose by over-running.
William Shakespeare

To go beyond is as wrong as to fall short.
Confucius, Analects
