George Adamski & The Mojave Desert (1952) " Alien Envoy or Fantasist?

Tom was back!
Despite the technical difficulties behind the scenes we managed to cobble together a seemingly pleasing concoction of tracks (based upon one listener's feedback.....).
Tom introduced the question about aliens visiting the Mojave Desert in 1952, and we shamelessly requested "free stuff" from any musicians seeking radio air play.
The first hour always seems to pick up speed as we approach 11 o'clock, and we really need a co-ordinated campaign to get us on from 9pm...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Adamski

Hopefully next week we can showcase the new Def Leppard album - "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge"; hear from Voodoo Six (http://www.voodoosix.com)who we spoke to ahead of their recent performance in Kettering (2/5) and enjoy the additional bonus of a conversation with Blaze Bayley the former front man of Iron Maiden.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaze_Bayley

The question was -
******************************************************************************
"What are your opinions on the 1952 Mojave Desert Alien Encounters?"
The alien debate created good responses with lots of interesting web links being sent to us with videos and documentation relating to UFOs.
Was George Adamski some kind of wacko or has that been the impression created to discredit his claims?
Here's one link to follow that reports this and other incidents " http://www.mysteriousreality.com/UFO/ufo_history.asp, ....and here are a selection of the answers….

Kraygh - I wasn't there.
Misty Blue - I think Adamski and his friends were dabbling with some serious gear. C'mon red shoes! Dead give away. Did you know that Ronald Reagan was a big UFO fan? That put the tin hat on it for me. grin.gif Radar Love -That takes me back. Damned if I can remember where. happy.gif E-mails? I'm Misty I'm supposed to stalk you, not the other way round.
wireddad - Very interesting. http://www.thewatcherfiles.com/cooper/secret_government.htm
Bear S - Isn't that when the USA started building the wall. Mexicans and aliens and small farm animals.
Kev C - I believe!! and Bubba was one of the exchange students...

******************************************************************************
Rich Szerman contacted us just before 11 asking if we could mention his music and have a chat with him on air. Once we have received some further details we will be able to do that. Another good example of how unsigned bands and artists can use different media outlets to get their work promoted, and (unsigned) Subsonic’s rather left field rendition of “That’s The Way I Like It” (a cover of KC and The Sunshine Band) indicates some of the fantastic interpretation of musical art that is all too rarely heard on UK radio.

Again the time passed very quickly but we appreciate all contributions (Misty gets it!!) to the premier Rock show in South Leicestershire and North Northamptonshire....

Here’s the full playlist……

The Socorro Incident (1964) - Reliable witnesses or a hoax to generate tourism?

No Tom this week as he was unwell, sore throat and a voice sounding like a strangled cat (his words - don't go calling the RSPCA.....!!).
Alien topic was the Scorro Incident from 1964,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonnie_Zamora

Def Leppard started the show in advance of their new album release "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" on May 4th, but available for download already.....

The question was -

******************************************************************************
"What are your thoughts on the Socorro Incident?"
This seemed to cause some confusion over what the question was, but once that was clarified, opinion ranged from plausibility because of the witness reliability to suggestions that it resulted from secret testing of the lunar module prior to the Apollo moon landing missions.

******************************************************************************
A second track from the featured artist - Prevalence - and the second hour was wrapped up seemingly quicker than the first.....

"Get well soon Tom" was the message from our very loyal Misty Blue......

A definite "punk" flavour to the selected tracks, but then we like that......

Here’s the full playlist……

1st May 2008
Def Leppard - When The Walls Come Tumbling Down
Def Leppard - Let's Get Rocked

Voodoo Six could put you under their spell, and how might people use their "superpowers" - for the common good? Or Evil?

The first hour had been destined to interview the Voodoo Six frontman - Henry Rundell. This had to be put back as the band were late on stage in Crewe!
Instead we introduced the crucial debate earlier - about humans having "superpowers" and how the State might cope with that concept (as Heroes Series 2 has started on the BBC), interspersed with more tracks from "the Vault".

Here is the list of superhuman skills that have been investigated with Comic book heroes

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhuman_powers

We asked the question (below) and the responses came flooding in….

******************************************************************************
Do you reckon people could have "Super Powers" and how do you think the "State" would manage them if they did?
Avarice - Abit like the X Files. Only they run format recognition programs for just about everything these days. So they don't miss a trick.
Woody B - If someone had truly superhuman powers, the state couldn't do a damn thing!
Martin Fantuzio - they couldn't because the supermen would think humans were sub human and you would have wars.
People might use there superpowers to help others but judging by earths very recent history the supermen want to be lords over mere mortals.
Barbarella - I love X men. I would be Mystique. Think of all the things you can do by tricking someone into thinking you're someone else..... hehehehe
7ala is fluffy? - I think that eventually people could evolve to have super powers, maybe some already do now, why not?
I think the government would either want to study them, (so I wouldn't want to be amongst the first), or probably tax them for the privilege! lol
Misty Blue - They'd all be rounded up and used for cloning purposes to create a Secret Super Army that would then be brain-washed until old enough to serve. Muhaha!
Aren't Indigo children supposed to have super powers albeit psychic? Check them out on Wiki.
Night Creature - All clairvoyants have power. They, the elite, bind your power if you become too big. Witches tap into the energies every day, the elements - earth, wind, fire, air; the christians tap into the Holy Spirit, and Muslims tap into Allah. Pagans tap into Demi Gods which were once Angels who fell to earth and became men. This is my theory and what the Bible says. They gave birth to giants (what we call tall people nowadays), they have angels in their blood and so do schizophrenics.....
Anonymous - I think they should give them normal jobs. For example Spiderman can make pizza deliveries - the fastest pizza deliveries!

******************************************************************************
I think I may now be a little bit wary of "night creatures" but will be ordering pizza very soon.......
More next week…..

In advance of Voodoo Six appearing locally (25/4 and 2/5) we were talking to the frontman - Henry Rundell - about the band being one of Classic Rock Magazine's tips for 2008, the stage show, the album "First Hit For Free", and what the benefits are of performing as rock band fronted by Baron Samedi...... Very entertaining, and we will gloss over the use of naughty words during the conversation..... Go see Voodoo Six if you can and visit their website at http://www.voodoosix.com or at http://www.myspace.com/voodoosix

Here’s the full playlist……

The Carlyle Group - Secret Leaders of the “Free” World….??

Do we have suspicions about those who purport to run things for the greater good....? You BET we do....!!

The Carlyle Group is a Washington, D.C., USA based global private equity investment firm with more than $81.1 billion of equity capital under management.
The firm is well known for the dozens of world political figures and luminaries it has employed. Some of these figures, such as George H. W. Bush and his Secretary of State James A. Baker III, have generated controversy stemming from allegations of conflicts of interest.

Connections between the Carlyle and the Bush family have inspired controversy, particularly in relation to the War on Terror and the Iraq War. George H. W. Bush and his Secretary of State James A. Baker III have at times been advisors to the group. One writer claimed that Saudi Arabian interests have given $1.4 billion to firms connected to the Bush family. Of this figure, $1.18 billion comes from contracts awarded to defense contractor Braddock, Dunn & McDonald, which Carlyle sold before George H. W. Bush became an advisor. A Carlyle spokesman noted in 2003 that its 7 percent interest in defense industries was far less than several other venture capital groups.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carlyle_Group
Further comments on how there may be some kind of conspiracy lurking beneath the surface can be sourced via http://www.carlylegroup.net/thebigguys.htm and this documentary Exposed " The Carlyle Group.

We asked the question (below) and now hope the “Big Guys” don’t come after us….

******************************************************************************
What are your opinions on the Carlyle group? Are they the secret rulers of the free world?
Misty Blue - Carlyle has become the thread which indirectly links American military policy in Afghanistan to the personal financial fortunes of its celebrity employees, not least the current president's father. And, until earlier this month, Carlyle provided another curious link to the Afghan crisis: among the firm's multi-million-dollar investors were members of the family of Osama bin Laden. Beginning to wonder if he works for them LOL. Most folk would be familiar with the name Bilderberg but not Carlyle despite the connections. Funny how you can get that powerful and remain under the radar?
There's something rotten in the state of Washington.
All a bit Machiavellian for my liking.
You should check out the Bush, Kerry, old families, Yale connection.
Kev - Ah, there you are. Misty Blue's been looking for you two! Is that a secret Empire built up by the evil Robert Carlyle and the other people from the film Trainspotting in their bid for world domination...?
guss99 - The Carlyle group sure knows how to profit from human suffering. The Bin-Ladens were investors in the group, through The Saudi Bin-Laden Group.

******************************************************************************
So, despite Kev’s rather random view, it appears that there is suspicion regarding Carlyle (NB. Misty Blue was wondering when we would run out of “conspiracies”), more next week…..

Featured Artist for this week was NEXUS BLOOM, originally based near Reading, but now plying their trade in Oz… In between asking for a birthday request for his Ma (!!), vocalist Tom Baker sent this information…
“We are an unsigned British band, and have funded ourselves to come out to Australia in hope of furthering our musical career. We made this decision due to the amount of exposure Billabong have given us " we have been on numerous surf footage DVD’s.”
For more information about the band, their website is http://www.myspace.com/nexusbloom, we found their sound very distinctive giving the impression that they would be great to see “live”.
(and Happy Birthday Mrs Baker….!)

In between some of the pre-selected tracks, both Tom and Ian spent some time in the “Rock Vault” to see what could be found " some old favourites in addition to Voodoo Six who may be spoken to on the telephone “live” next week ahead of their upcoming appearances in Kettering…..

The Television Conspiracy - Do you control it, or does it control you?

After the thought of cameras inside your television last week, we came across this topic….

Okay, it all starts off in 1907: Campbell Swinton and Boris Rosing both develop electronic scanning methods of reproducing images.
14 years later, Vladimir Zworykin patents a TV camera tube based on Campbell Swinton's and Boris Rosing’s ideas. It becomes the benchmark of all future televisions from then on.
Also during the 1900’s Knight Dunlap, an American professor of psychology, flashed an "imperceptible shadow" to subjects while showing them a Mueller-Lyer illusion containing two lines with pointed arrows at their ends which create an illusion of different lengths.
Dunlap claimed that the shadow influenced his subjects subliminally in their judgment of the lengths of the lines.

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread227413/pg1

The link above shows the original “blog” on the subject, and a selection of (edited) responses to our question posed are shown below.

******************************************************************************
Are you remotely controlling your television or is your television remotely controlling you?
Ysanne - No I'm not controlling the TV, the hubby is.
bandc - Haven't got a clue, as I am on my laptop.
Kev - lol! I never get to control the TV when the girlfriend's staying over. The TV is always on when I'm at home though, so I suppose it does have control.
Betty Boop - I am not going to get on my soap box about the government but these election's, I think they are all rigged. I have said this before. The government want us to believe that we are electing a new local MP or new PM by letting us vote.
Scouse - Don't often watch it. Most women folk are too much into soaps
bobgnote - The TV drags me like a big monkey pulling a yellow-hat!
seven - I control my TV, as I usually switch it off, get sick of the rubbish pushed down my throat! But I think 'big brother' would control us, given the chance that we were all as thick as they hoped!!! ;-) Now I know hoe 'Elvis' felt... But I ain't got his dosh...
Ellie - TV is a form of mass media. And aren’t we all really controlled by the mass media? It’s sad really.
Misty Blue - Sorry guys I was on the piss tonight did I miss you? Still love yous.
My middle son is a bassist in a heavy metal band, so “no” that didn't scare me. happy.gif
On topic: It’s all done in such a subtle way now.Semantics, dramatic background scenes, and eerie music. You wouldn't even realise it was seeping in. Fox & friends are the least subtle, they just make me laugh.
Subliminal - that was the word I was looking for! ‘Night Guys, you missed my very pertinent point, I’m in a huff now.
Poitin - Why have they synchronised ad time? Tune in to any digital 'sky' or other network channel on a break - each and every one are synchronised to bombard the viewer with mindless ads for cars, perfume, body re-adjustments etc.
Why is this? - Give the viewers a break, otherwise, like me you will end up refusing to watch any form or make of TV.

Oh, and my son turns the volume down every time an ad comes on - you can't fool the youth!

******************************************************************************
Not quite sure what Betty and Bob were alluding to, but it was good to see others knew what we were getting at…..
As for the rest of the show, amongst other things we introduced the "Euro Rock" of the Moldovian band “Unbreakable”; Tom disappeared into Ian's "Rock Vault"; and the International Voice Over Woman, Deborah De Vries, joined the team to understand the chaos behind the scenes.....
More newish music from The Answer and the "Countryish" style of the Deadstring Bros saw another packed 1st hour (Tom’s still threatening to do a “Country” show " “Yee Ha!!”………).
Part 2 was almost even more hectic as we continued to promote “Unbreakable” as our featured artist, gave a play to the Oblivion Kings, Voodoo Six (ahead of their shows in Kettering at the end of the month), and Nexus Bloom (who will be our featured artist next week.....).
Here’s the full playlist……
