Tip My Hat

I realize that this has been a long and drawn out primary season. Even I have felt the affects of election fatigue, and have had to give myself a little break from the rhetoric race. But the end is in sight, as I am sure you are well aware, Barak Obama has gained enough delegated to be the democratic party's pick for presidential candidate.. Noted and Respected this is clearly a historic moment, not only for African Americans, but for all of us as a whole. I think that this victory alone is a sign that America may be, I repeat, may be, a bit more ready and willing to change and progression than I thought, or perhaps the power has shifted to a different position that we cannot recognize yet.. but that is a tangent I will not get into...

However, Barak (my love), is not the focus of this note. Hillary Rodham Clinton is! The junior senator from the magnanimous empire state, my home state of New York, is also a history maker. And if I am being honest I was a Hillary supporter until Barak came along. And before that I was/ and still am.. a supporter of Dennis Kusinich (oh my , a white man, go figure)... This woman has managed to leave her mark on this country and in history above and beyond all of the drama that surrounded her husband as his ..misconduct. She is a great leader, a brilliant politican and policy maker, and has persued her dream with courage and ambition. And simply because she has not won the bid, I would not consider this a failure by anymeans.

I have been disgusted by the mudslingging that has gone on from both sides of this campaign, especially those that have included the spouses of the candidates. In the case of Hillary I have been particularly ashamed of the allegations that she could not fulfill the job because of her gender. People grow up! I would love to have an election where we choose purely on credentials, not race, not gender, not religion, not sexuality, but on policy alone..gosh thats a novel idea- choosing policy makers based on policy implementation.

As for everyone wanting Hillary to just concede defeat, that notion is purely insulting. None of us would give up on something we have worked so hard for.. "just because" everyone said so, she is Human like the rest of us! She will graciously bow out when she is ready... How quickly we forget and move to criticism. I may ot have voted for Clinton but I am not ashamed to say that I have deep respect and appreciation for what she has done, and what she will continue to do for this country and for history.

<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/us/politics/05dems.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin">Cheers.</a>

My friend just sent me this link- it was laughter inducing. But not the jovial, joyfilled laughter that comes from infinite moments..this is the kind of nervous, manic, oh my god, laughter that causes insomnia and depression.

Not to be melodramatic but.. doom is the word/ feeling that comes to mind. If 2008 elections don't go the way I want. I am moving... to the moon.

The Content of My Character

Race Race Race.
Personally, I have tried to stay away from this race issue that has been satiating the air these past weeks, along with government scandal. Which, I will admit is out of character for me. But I am weary.

What needs to be understood about Rev. Wright is that he is right. And by right I mean correct. Racist comments? Are you joking? He is merely speaking the reality and gravity of the black experience in America, in no uncertain terms, and just because no one wants to hear about it does not mean its is..wrong or racist. So, yes, history would show that America is not made for people of color. It may have been built by people of color, but we certainly do not have an equal stake in all this country has to offer. Okay?

The man has the right to say whatever he pleases. Freedom of speech, remember that? Bull Conner said what he wanted and no one complain. Woe is the white man, how hard it must be...

Honestly though, I am all about equality and hope and change but reality is at the root of it all. We need to work with what we have, and we've got racism, classism and sexism and a bunch of other "isms" that suck, but i believe that they can be improved. Out situation as a whole cannot get better if we try to appease the majority by pretending these vehicles of oppression don't exist. I certainly wont.

<a href= "http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/18/us/politics/18text-obama.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&adxnnlx=1206363700-zOTeEvkwQWIqr8JmYY6Prg&pagewanted=print"> Barak On Race </a>

So yeah. Racism sucks.

We cannot let this side track us. My number one issue right now is the economy. We aren't all black but we are all broke.

One time For Ya Mind

Just something to think about. Here are some articles detailing the end of free press- beginning in 1990's following the Gulf War. Basically all the news we see now is Pentagon approved..so my advise- believe none of what you hear..half of what you see and take it all with a big hunky stroke inducing amount of salt.

I am simply at my end. This war is sick. Beyond politics and oil- its bullshit- people are dying and we the people are being lied to so that we wont do anything about it!

I want to give up, but then I know that we can't be just allow this government to defeat us like this. Remember I'm running for office in 2020. Ill get things done!

I'd be remiss if I didn't bring this up. Dem Gov of the Empire State is caught up in a prostitution ring. You know what Elliot, I dont blame you. I mean yeah, you got caught but, I blame society and the republicans.

I blame this society that has made sexuality so taboo and so off limits that it has repressed us all. We should all be allowed to express ourselves however we want. Artistically, intelectually, ideologically and sexually. We should all just be free to be.

Sorry for the Spitzer Family- Sorry for his wife-

So Sad. Anyway I am all for D. Paterson , running this show. Harlem Stand Up! Woo!

My blurb on a NY Observer Article

TwentySomething (not verified) says:

The Clinton campaign is unraveling. That is abundantly clear, but the way to even attempt salvation is not by taking low and petty blows at Obama, it just makes a bad situation worse. Simply going back to the basics and articulating her platform would allow her to at least finish this race with some dignity and allow for her points to be made and effective no matter who ultimately implements them. Let me state that I do not think that this conflict is bad for the party, it is in fact rejuvenating it, by making politics some what entertaining. However, for the sake of seeming unified come general election time, there needs to be a fair and noble fight with the issues plaguing this country at the fore front..Not SNL skits and mockery. That way we can all kiss and make up come November.

And to RobX- Is there any such thing as objective news? Everyone has an agenda, take what you hear with a grain of salt, and get over it.
**

Yeah- I made up the "TwentySomething" Alias for that article but I kind of like it..I am in fact twenty..and soon the something will come into play.

Expanation: RobX- as you will see if you goto the article commented that the observer columnist for this particular article lacked journalistic integrity and to him I responded above.

Consider This

Nadar is back in the ring to ruin the Democrats chances of electing either candidate to the White House.

<a href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/24/nader.politics/index.html"> Nay Dar on the Ray Dar </a>

While this may not be his intention, face it Republicans, as scummy and evil as they may be, are at the very least consistant, or atleast that is what the past has shown.

Dems- eh not so much. And then there are the Indie votes. I am a liberal- not a democrat- but realistically speaking i want my voice heard in the primary thus I am registered with the asses.

I digress. The Indie vote is an important vote because the are usually the left of the left, and while they don't like either major party they tend to loath dems a little less than the GOP. Which puts the Dems at some small semblance of an advantage. And this year with out "historic" race going on, perhaps the indie vote could find a glimmer of indentification on issues with these candidate.

Point Blank- Nader gets indie vote- Grand Ol' Jerks the majority- Obama and Hillary go back to the senate, and we endure another four years at the mercy of the republicans. The worst of it all is that itd be McCain-- the one who wants to stay in Iraq um..forever.

I'll take something from my fellow blogger mike glenwick -- (check his blog at www.michaelglenwick.com) And write a letter to Nader - info@nadar.org

my letter- concise-

Ey Ralphie,
You're cool and all...
Don't be a tool!

Love,
The Future Senator from New York

Stepford wives...not so much

I have been watching MSNBC for about 2.5 hours now and I keep hearing crap over and over about this Michelle Obama controversy.

Number one- these claims that she is not patriotic are bull shit
Number two- the quote is taken out of context
Number three- free speech, get over it

View for yourself:

http://www.breitbart.tv/html/49244.html

The Statement:
"What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud."

The Controversy: for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.

There are no anti patriot implications in this statement. She was saying that the possibility for change is finally tangible. Thats it, and there is nothing wrong with that. And even if what she did say had even a drop of hesitance in being proud of this country she would still be correct. I am not proud of America. But, I am patriotic because I am proud of what this country has the potential to be. I like the values we claim to have, but clearly we have not met those claims. Its no cake walk being a Black Woman in this Country, I know. And one would have to be completely to deluded to think that the history of this country is solely one of valor and freedom. Please. So I think Pat Buchanan and Lady McCain and everyone else needs to calm down and focus. Let's leave the spouses out of this because if we really wanted to talk about it Bill is not doing grand things for Hillary. So let the candidates stand on their own merits and not the comments on their love ones.

Focus- lets keep our eyes on the prize of getting my main man, Barack O in the white house!

okay? GOOD!
