Okay ...

Yeah ... My friend effed her computer up, and her operating system has disapeared. To top her problem off, she doesn't have her system restore CDs.

I was thinking, could she solve this problem with Linux? If so, what would be best for her? All she mostly does is homework, browse the internet, and chat on it.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I do not link Linux would be the answer. Linux is much more advanced and very hard to do. It is not just point and click, you have to actually run everything manually.

If any Linux would be suitable, probably Mandrake.

Well, it's either this or forking up the money for something expensive or doing something illegal and probably equally as complicated. Anyways, she is an honors student, she can figure things out for herself. lmao!

If you have any better solutions, feel free to offer them.

i use MepisLinux. it's probably one of the easiest to use and it comes with firefox, gaim, and openoffice which would work perfect for everything she needs to do.

let me know if you need help with it! i'm getting pretty good at that OS.
