timooo resolutions rehashed - Subscribe
approximately 3 months ago, i made some resolutions for term 2.
which has ended.
now for a fabulicious post-mortem

1) dont miss more than 3 lectures this term (but if the aircon isnt working it doesnt count.. like today's physics lect)

naaaaa. i specifically stated skipping cos of spoilt aircons dont count ah. so, the final tally of skipped lectures is.. TWO! which is less than 3!

happy.gif

2) dont go out (town) more than once a week (or simply put, dont take 518 more than once a week)

ok. i admit it. this is simply impossible to fulfil lah.

sad.gif

3) do at least half of the tutorials

confirm got. i think maybe even three quarter lah.. though at the end of the term i started waning off tutorials cos of the pre-holiday mood. but still ive done it

happy.gif

4) spend less than 2 hours on the com per day (unless doing computing stuff)

straight no. haiz.

sad.gif

5) lock up my ds lite while im at home

surprisingly, its not that addictive while im at home cos there's always the com to distract me. so, i managed to keep it away from my wandering mind fingers. but as a result, jaymee often ended up thirsty and famished. tsk tsk =( guess there's always a sacrifice for everything

happy.gif

6) double my tally of pull-ups (its quite a small number to begin with, so it shldnt be too difficult)

okay, at the time of setting the resolutions, it was nearly 4.

now, its just 6. hmm i guess its more difficult than i thought.

sad.gif

7) stop reduce the snacking while studying

this is another surprise lah. during the O level year, my room was filled with enough food such that i could hide in my room for 6 months and still survive. u wouldnt believe the number of cans of lays (yes, cans. those blue ones? with lays salt n vinegar inside?) i had all over my room.

of course there were other unhealthy stuff like seaweed, cuttlefish, nuts, chewing gum, mentos, peanut butter crackers, snack bars, and the occasional packet of apricot.

now, my room is no longer the bomb shelter/ food storeroom that it was. not even a single small packet of mamee lah.
i feel so deprived. as i said, there'll always be some sacrifices in everything.

happy.gif

so, in total, i have
happy.gif sad.gif happy.gif sad.gif happy.gif sad.gif happy.gif
4 out of 7!
i passed!

thus i rewarded myself with a small shopping trip today.
(okay actually i already decided on going shopping lah, but well this justifies it abit)

shall blog abt that tmr (:
adios.

nothing much to update about, really. the only earth-shattering events that happened were like, me getting addicted to pokemon diamond (yesssss! can't believe it huh?) on my ds, me doing 7 pullups, and my spoilt aircon getting fixed.

oh and i jus ripped a few albums onto my com, thanks to a few ppl who support originals. thanks! (i do NOT advocate piracy :*)

okay the first album is mandy moore's new album, wild hope. not bad lah, looks like she's still sticking to her kind of music and not defecting to the more modern type of music.

then it's eden's crush (who?). those people they churned out from the show popstars. and their album is called popstars. how un-original. and their songs are so pop-py. dont really like em.

last but not least, ronan keating's bring you home. havent had time to listen to it yet. but i dunno why i borrowed it, cos im really no great fan of ronan keating.

shall go now.
adios (:

sometimes i almost feel sorta sorry for paris hilton for going through so much tough sh*t.

being sentenced to jail, being allowed to go home, and then being thrown back into jail again.

its like giving a lollipop to a little kid, then snatching it away again when he starts licking it.

when they just totally lose it,
it proves that they're actually human inside.

sad sob story.

i'm tired of pasir ris.

there.
i've said it.

after being in pasir ris for a whole 7 years, i've grown sick of it. of course, that's only because i've seen something i think is better.

doesnt edgedale plains sound ten times cooler than pasir ris street ##? i mean, even though they're all hdb estates but there's a nice ring to it. pretty superficial, but yeah.

actually it sorta reminds me of where i stayed in hongkong last year. quiet, nice-looking new neighbourhood, rail stations jus a stone's throw away, fabulous sea view, a little shopping place around the corner.

and they look ten times better in terms of colour and decor as well. apparently, hdb has different groups of designers for different towns. and those in charge of pasir ris are probably colour blind like me. but then even i wldnt have chosen such a hideous blend of colours. ughhhh. it wasnt like this when i moved in one la. they must have packed off the brilliant designers and replaced them with fresh graduates who failed their 'colour & design' modules.

hopefully, i'll move into edgedale plains by the end of the year.

i never thought i'll get so excited about hdb flats.

the new tv arrived today at exactly 9.06 pm. i know the timing right to the dot cos i could hear my brother announcing its arrival right when the people delivering the tv came. i think even mum was anticipating its arrival, cos it was scheduled to arrive from 6 to 8.

the story begins when our 2 TVs in the house broke down within 2 days of one another last week. talk about xin you lin xi. as a result, everyone became tv-deprived for about one whole week. mum didnt have anything to entertain her while she ironed the clothes, bro didnt have anything to do cos watching tv takes up 95% of his life, dad didnt have anything to watch when he came home late for dinner.

so my brother had been scanning the roads from the living room window since 6 to look out for the truck that would bring us our new tv. how desperate.

obviously, the least affected person was me. with sites like peekvid.com and movinflicks.com, who needs the TV? the only downside is the small 17 inch screen lah.
but then, beggars cant complain.

jessica alba has a nintendo ds! wow and i thought celebs only knew how to operate ipods and tvs and make secret sex tapes that dont turn out to be that secret after that. and then i read somewhere that paris hilton plays world of warcraft. like wtf.

anyway, back to the point. jessica alba has a ds. and so does the whole cast of fantastic four!

Jessica Alba loves the Nintendo DS so much that she bought one for the whole cast of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer when they finished filming.

"I had my DS on the set of Fantastic Four and I bought it for my entire cast when we wrapped," said Alba. "I guess I just felt bad because between takes they'd be chatting and we were in the Fantasticar and I'd always have my iPod and my DS with me. It was like fingernail-biting, gripping moments in the movie and then, "Cut!" I'd pick up my DS and try to beat my 82 age in Brain Age. I'd try to memorize all of those damn words."

http://www.videogames.yahoo.com/celebrity-byte/jessica-alba/517885/2

well, though she does get points for having a ds, its incredibly dumb to get a brain age of 82, which basically means her brain is about 50+ years older than her. tells alot about the intelligence of celebrities these days.

timooo cabs June 17, 2007 - Subscribe
took cab home last night after the gathering cos i simply felt like pampering myself. these kinds of feelings happen like once in a blue moon, so why not?

so i happened to take this cab driven by an auntie. a particularly talkative one too. i dont actually disapprove of talkative cab drivers aunties, but sometimes you jus feel like having a nice quiet cab ride home.
sometimes it the only reason you're taking a cab.

thankfully, i didnt mind talking that much, since im just a nice, kind, well-natured and polite boy who wont ask a cab auntie to shuddup and drive.

anyway, by the time i reached home, we had already discussed a wide range of topics, like: what kind of house i live in, the friggin? gahmen, effects of gst hike on shopping, wat school i go to, wat cca im from, wat i wanna be in the future, wat i think about ns, where was i before i boarded her cab, why i shldnt get married so early, the indian who wanted to board the cab earlier, how dangerous it is to ride motorbikes nowadays...............

and after that 20 minutes of talking, she still didnt give discount! isnt me talking for 20 minutes worth like 20 cents? tsk.

1 week til school reopens.
1 week til common tests.
1 week left to study.
1 word to describe this: screwed.

luckily, the great singapore sale lasts for 1 more month. so i can shop in a more relaxed mood after the common tests. plus i'll probably have more money by then too! hah

anyway, apple needs to come up with a bigger ipod nano cos im running out of space! i've already used 6.8gb out of my 8gb nano and its gonna run out really quick.
so i probably have to:
1. switch to a big fat dangerous 30gb ipod OR
2. start picking out songs that i have to leave out

im not too happy about either.

firstly, i'll probably spoil the 30gb ipod within a week cos im really prone to dropping my ipod. the first time i dropped my ipod nano was the first time i took it out of the frigging box (ouch!). and since the 30gb ipod video is a hard disk player, and not a flash disk player like the nano, it'll just break like glass when i drop it.

secondly, its gonna be a big hassle to choose songs to put in. how am i supposed to choose just 1500 songs out from my library? pretty crazy. and i dont trust itunes to pick songs for me cos it might pick those songs i really hate to listen.

so the only thing i can do is to cross my fingers and hope i wont max out the storage space so fast.

time to sleep!
adios (:

timooo something to remember June 21, 2007 - Subscribe
in the face of all the stress and impending doom, ive decided to rehash some relatively old but great memories that i'll live term 3 by.

[for the viewing pleasure of whoever wants to read it (4h guys can stop here cos u've probably read this great report by chris a few million times already.. hope chris doesnt mind me posting it here?)]

It was a hot and humid afternoon. In the open field opposite Temasek Polytechnic's West Wing, 2 different groups gathered for a friendly match. It was the Victorian boys decked in their traditional Bumblebee outfits against the DHS boys were were clad in a variety of tops which ranged from VJ tees to blue class jerseys and even a yellow top, which we believed was to fool the mighty VS boys. The match was to be played in 4, 25 minute halfs (or quarters to be exact) with 5 minute breaks in between.

The matched was kicked off by the boys in yellow. However, our match fitness, or should I say lack of, let us down early. We easily gave the ball away within the first minute of the match and we were punished by a quick counter attack by DHS. It was a blow to the team to see us trailing in a matter of minutes. The fans held their heads in disbelief and the players could only look to the bench in frustration. Keeper J.Ang was left speechless as there was nothing he could do about the defensive lapse. Yet, his self belief was not rocked as he encouraged the team to get back on their feet and do their job. The first half was contested with half chances from both sides, with DHS looking more menancing in their attacks which almost saw them double their lead. The boys in yellow hung on till the end of the first interval which saw a reshuffle in the line up and also changes in the tactics. Player-Coach Chris Raj who was taken out with a collision in the first quarter introduced a new midfield that was meant to hold the game and prevent the easy loss of posession which costed us so dearly in the first quarter. The defence was left untouched and Yeo Jun Yu was deployed as lone striker with Khyrul supporting him in central midfield. The flanks were now occupied by Darren Yong and Handoko.

The second quarter began with an early attack by DHS which was snuffed out by Centre Back Naim Osman who was having a great game. His sheer vision and pinpoint timing in the tackle prevented DHS from scoring the second goal. Galvanised by their strong defensive showing, the team slowly picked up with the midfield improving in it's possesion rate. Crosses came flying in from the VS wingers, but the failure to connect in front of goal ensured the scoreline remained unchanged. It was frustrating for the home fans to see CM Khyrul displaying a dazzling, yet unnecessary array of skills in the middle of the park and subsequently losing the ball to the opponents. The manager had clearly called for a game of short passes, and Khyrul did not do himself any favours with the extended time he had on the ball. It was soon too much for the management as they decided to bring out Khyrul and in his place send on number 23, Sanjay. The introduction of Sanjay brought more pace to the team and sharpened the attack, but that was not enough to prevent DHS from scoring the all important 2nd goal. Chris Raj was brought on in the place of Yeo Jun Yu and nearly had a chance to cut down the deficit when he pounced on an error by the DHS defender. Nicking the ball off him in his own penalty box, Chris raced towards the DHS keeper and rounded him. However, he was unable to finish the move off with a goal. The fans who were anticipating a goal moaned in disappointment as they saw the ball being cleared off after a scramble. Yet, this further strengthened the team's belief that the match was not beyond our reach. The 2nd quarter came to and end and the boys in yellow agreed that it was an improvement that were to build on.

The third quarter saw a new defensive partnering of Tan Terry, Joshua Goh and Timo Cheng. The previous triplet had set high standards and all eyes were on this new defence. Timo Cheng did an impressive job in the RB position, snuffing out the opponent's attacks with simple tackles and solid clearances. Tan Terry also contributed on the left flank with clearances that created possibilities of a counter attack that Chris Raj failed to convert. Josh Goh played in the Central defenders position and also ventured out to the midfield to help. Such contributed to the increased possession and also the increased pressure that the VS boys put on the DHS team. Our waves of attacks created a chance when a shot was handled by the DHS defender. The free kick was not taken by Sanjay 'Beckham', but instead entrusted to Chris Raj who earlier in the week at training had taken a chunk off Nickolas Tan's mental capacity. With a 3-men DHS wall and the keeper to beat, he rocketed a ferocious shot which deflected off the DHS wall and into the net. The revival was sparked. That goal was the closing ceremony for the 2nd half from which the VS boys took back many positives.

The last quarter was make or break for the boys in yellow. We desperately needed that equaliser. With Naim and Hakim back in defence with Timo Cheng, the team knew that there was no more goals for the DHS side. Instead we bolstered our attacks, substitutions were continuously carried out in the last quarter to ensure that our team's legs remained as fresh as possible. Then came the all important equaliser. J. Ang who was substituted by Khyrul who took on his new position as keeper enabled us to counter attack more quickly with his goal kicks. One quickly take goal kick caught the DHS team on the backfoot and star player Sanjay finished it off with relative ease. We piled on the pressure to seek the eventual winner, but the missed header from Handoko meant that the match was to go to extra time.

Extra time was fiercely contested despite the fatigue in each player. The only goal came from a VS corner which saw the ball being turned into the DHS net by their own player. A freak goal was to settle the game. DHS attacks were fruitless with Timo Cheng playing a starring role in stopping their left winger from creating any chances. The team opted for a more defensive approach and were rewarded with their win.

However, being a friendly match, we kept on playing beyond the allocated 7 mins for extra time. And DHS managed to score 1 consolation goal that would not be included in the Official Statistics.

Final Score.

DHS 2

without fail, every school holidays there'll be some mega event happening anywhere and everywhere under my block. mega event as in a malay wedding or a chinese wake. you cldnt have been expecting some band to hold a void deck concert right?

anyway, this time its a chinese wake. and judging by the number of wreaths this guy has gotten (14), he's one popular fella.

its not that im being insensitive, its just that i have no sympathy for this kind of thing when its disturbing me from my last minute (gasp 2 days left!) studying. though if i have to look on the bright side, its that im not the one receiving 14 wreaths.

i really have the sensitivity of a cactus man.

okayyyy.
but seriously, if the malay family living on the second floor can tolerate their dong dong dong chiang thang, there's no reason why i should start throwing things down from my window and get arrested for killer litter (which might then result in another wake at the void deck).

that would be totally shooting myself in the foot.

the best damn thing that's happened today.
and in case you're wondering, i'm an arsenal fan.

if you had asked me last year at this time amid all the rumours, of whether henry should have left, i would still said yes.
and he didnt contribute that much this season either, with only loads of injuries and just 11 goals.

i trust wenger's judgment, and arsenal just isnt a henry team anymore. its more like a fabregas team now.

but of course, we'll have great memories of him, of the past 5/6 seasons.
such wonderful goals.

a quick update before i run out of the house again.

went with yw and jh to buy their ds lite accessories yesterday. amk hub. a breathe of fresh air, sort of. watched die hard 4, not bad, though its amazing bruce willis can keep his face so clean after all that action and explosions. ahh that's why they're movies.

went town to shop after that. damn crowded ah.. sians. i hate crowds when shopping (though its unavoidable). then the two of them left cos (i suspect) they got bored with me spending years in one shop and then sauntering to the one next door, where i'll spend another few years.
haix its still best to do shopping alone.

zara, topman, adidas, rsh, pedro, and lastly a stop at kinokuniya so that i'll be able to say i bought something intellectual besides clothes.

met the kids after that, and dammit it was so crappily crowded despite the rain, saw some vj ppl as well. watched oceans13, movie wasnt as nice as i expected, got abit bored of the storyline. maybe cos its my second movie in a day i guess.

today's itinerary will probably revolve around getting my room a makeover, so im done with throngs of shoppers in town and long lines at fitting rooms.
