Grand Six-In-One International Horti Expo 2008, dubbed as the largest horticulture exhibition in South Asia, offered a great platform for the entire horticulture sector in the region. Producers, retailers, horticulture lovers and experts came together and made various transactions on the occasion.

Organized from January 31 to February 02, 2008 at the sprawling exhibition complex Pragati Maidan in the Indian capital city New Delhi, the expo was attended by horticulture enthusiasts from all over the world. Thousands of visitors attended the trade show. The visitors include traders, gardeners, landscapers, decorators, floral artists, agronomists, farmers and estate owners, professionals related to the field of flower and plant collections, floristry supplies, floral decorations, floral arrangements, flowerpots and window boxes, earthenware and general public.

Exhibitors at the show included manufacturers of mini-tractors for gardening, lawn-mowers, soil softeners, watering equipment, clippers, spades, hoses, saws, rakes, wheelbarrows, nets, foils, greenhouses, garden accessories, awnings, vases for plants and floral arrangements, composts and fertilisers, grass, seeds for flowers and ornamental plants, herbicides and insecticides. Several teams from foreign countries also participated at the trade show. Pakistan trade team -- a 87-member Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation -- took part in the expo. The chamber had arranged live coverage of the show.

The Horti Expo included six most important aspects of horticulture business -- India Organic Expo, India Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) Expo, Food Retailing Expo, Processing and Packaging Expo, Cold Chain and Logistics Expo, and Medi-Herbal Expo-all under one banner. India Organic Expo intended to promote various concepts related to National Program for Organic Production, which the Indian government has launched to make it a major supplier of certified organic agro products. The show also aimed at bringing awareness about the quality certification procedures, practices and related aspects among thousands of farmers and showcase India's strength to the developed world.

India GAP Expo projected the Indian government’s initiatives for farmers, exporters and the new breed of agri-entrepreneurs from all over India. Food Retailing Expo offered scope to Indian food companies, inputs suppliers and farmers to meet the who's who in food retail revolution as well as potential buyers. It also provided ample opportunity to understand corporate and contract farming concepts through discussions and interaction.

Horticulture in India plays a vital role in improving the productivity of the land, improving economic conditions of the farmers and entrepreneurs, enhancing exports and generating employment. India has launched a National Horticulture Mission with a focus on overall development of horticulture in the country.
