Tens of thousands of visitors visited the 14th MTNL Perfect Health Mela which was organized from October 27, 2007 to November 4, 2007 at Sanjay Lake Park, Laxmi Bai Nagar in New Delhi. The visitors include vendors, trade delegations, medical professionals, purchase and production associations, delegates of seminar, exporters, health professionals, service providers and health, medical and fitness industry.



The highlights of the 14th health mela was all national health programs, adult and adolescent vaccinations, cardio vascular control program, periodic de-worming, road safety, know your blood pressure, first aid including chest compression CPR, learn stress management techniques, heart & diabetes exhibition and anemia free India.



The event provided a unique opportunity to government departments, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies for promoting, publicizing and introducing their products, schemes and services. The products exhibited in the event include hospital equipment and supplies, commodities and consumer goods for surgeries and hospitals, electromedical equipment, premises and building technology, analytical services (lab instruments, laboratory equipment and clinical chemistry and glassware and lab chemicals).



The health mela, organized by Heart Care Foundation of India, was also a great platform to undertake a community service project. Hospital and clinics provided free health checkups including both specialist and general consultations covering all pathies. They set up laboratories (cardiac, pulmonary, osteoporosis, etc.) and offered highly subsidized on the spot services.



Various competitions focusing on health were organized during the event. Schools, colleges, NGOs and hospitals participated in the programs. For creating health awareness, the MTNL Perfect Health Mela as a module was conceptualized by Heart Care Foundation of India in 1993 and the world's first Perfect Health Mela was organized at Talkatora Cricket grounds that year. Later Ministry of Health and Family Welfare adopted this concept officially under the Swasthya Mela scheme and organized melas all over the country.
