While glancing through the newspaper and reading about the increasing depletion of non-renewable energy resources, I have always wished that some concrete step be taken towards nurturing the available renewable energy resources that can be used in both the industries as well as in our homes. My wish has come true as the Renewable Energy India Expo, 2008 has been scheduled to be held at the Pragati Maidan (Hall No.12 &12A), New Delhi, from 21st to 23rd August.

The Renewable Energy India Expo, 2008 is a platform to tap multi sectoral renewable energy resources such as bio, solar, wind and hydro energy. According to me, it is a great step towards learning about the latest as well as future trends of renewable energy resources. The companies involved in developing the latest technology trends in the renewable energy sector no longer need to crave for getting their efforts recognized as they now have a platform where the major players in other sectors can know about their work and commitment towards preserving our environment.

As I have been associated with some major NGOs working on different environment related issues, I am looking forward to this event. I would be mainly interested in knowing about the take of some major players in the different sectors (who are likely to pay their visit to the Expo) such as Research and energy professionals, planners & technocrats, cultivators, entrepreneurs, students, Head of the States, government officials, leading environmentalists, machinery components suppliers and even financial institutions on the current and future prospects of using renewable resources for different purposes. This is because if these players do not feel strongly about the renewable energy sector, the applicability of different equipments and machineries using renewable energy may not become a success.

Some leading foreign companies are also expected to participate in the Expo that are either interested in implementing renewable resources into their production activities or are looking for some collaboration with Indian companies in developing such opportunities. But, what I think is that we should be more inclined to prepare ourselves for the exponential growth of the renewable energy sector in India. This is because we are already the second largest populated country in the world with an ever growing demand for different energy resources. So, we need to create an infrastructure where renewable resources are be capable of meeting all our energy needs.

It will be great to see the displays of leading Indian manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in the Expo who are trying to bring about a revolution in the renewable energy resource market. For instance, I am looking forward to the fuel station equipment, planting and harvesting machinery as well as transformers and condensers that work on bio energy. Even taking a close look at the crystal growth equipments, diffusion furnaces, laminators, inverters, ingots and wafers that are capable of working with solar energy will be equally exciting.
