NGV India 2009 is the 1st International Natural Gas for Vehicles event for both India and South Asia. The exhibition offers an ideal platform to both the exhibitors and visitors to explore the possibilities of the development in the field of natural gas in and around India.

India is one of the Asia-Pacific's most attractive NGV Markets. The reason is simple: by 2012 India's CNG pipeline will stretch 12,000 km, connect 15 states, and reach a population of 160,000,000 people.

Also, India has the 5th largest fleet of natural gas vehicles in the world. It also holds the highest NGV growth potential in the world with around 220 cities planned for CNG development.

Organized by Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd, the exhibition will be held at Pragati Maidan. The exhibition started on March 24th and will end on March 26th 2009. The three day exhibition is a must attend event for vehicle and fleet owners, automotive industry, government policy makers and regulators, gas industry members, cylinder manufacturers, research bodies, and refueling providers.

Being an employee with a gas distribution company, I was asked to visit the fair and find out about the future prospects of using and distributing CNG. I was surprised to see that the exhibition attracted more than 1000 visitors on the first day itself. There were people from the city and provincial planning organizations, airport and port operators, marine fleet operators, armed forces, truck operating companies, educational organizations, environmental NGO's, OEM's, taxi and tuk-tuk operators, rail operating companies , shipping companies, and retrofitters.

The exhibition showcased various technologies and researches related to CNG. The exhibitors were from diverse fields so that they could throw a light on each and every aspect of CNG. The exhibitors included representatives from the design and consultancy dispensers, automotive engineering, valves, components and fittings, fueling equipment, heat exchange systems, cylinders, gas treatment and processing, energy companies, compressors and compression systems, environmental control, fuel management systems, flow meters, conversion kits, and many other related fields.

The exhibition also included a conference program. The conference program covered all areas of the industry, including policy, marketing, and technical streams, which will be beneficial for all stakeholders.
