Hey Team, The BBQ this Saturday will be directly following practice at Huntington Beach. Please bring $8 dollars if you plan on eating, unless you already told Julie you're bringing something. Please also bring lots of quarters to chip in for street parking or else parking structures will be more expensive! If you have any questions/concerns, contact Julie ASAP. Drivers for Saturday practice/social are: Yoshi Chex Chris Davin (leaving BBQ early with Angela Zhao/Simone) Things to bring for Saturday: 1. Swimsuit 2. Beach towels/chairs 3. $8 +quarters 4. Change of clothes 5. Football/frisbee/etc. 6. Fireworks..... j/k See you at Midvale- 9:30am or Long Beach- 10:30am. For everyone else, Happy 4th of July! -Dboat Officers Hey Team, The USA "Under 23" team is competing in the Prague Race in late August and is looking for more paddlers. Here is the website: http://wc2009.dragonboat.cz/EN/with more information on the acutal race. It will cost about $2,000 for everything. It looks like an amazing experience with TONS of teams from around the world. It is a once in a life-time experience not only in terms of dragon boat experience but also in life in general. Hey guys, First of all, please update your response on the evite with what time you can leave on the Friday before the Sprint Races, if you haven't already. Final roster for Sprints (those who are racing): Alex Yu Virginia Lauren Julie Derrick Kyle Chris Sean Yoshi Justin Brian Davin Simone Kevin C. Angela Z. Patrick Julia Chex Adeline Angela N. David Important dates for this week: Thursday: Land practice at Drake, 6pm. Saturday and Sunday: LAST two boat practices before Sprints Races. Everyone who is racing needs to be there. Saturday after practice: 4th of July social/BBQ (tentatively) at Kyle's place. Time TBD. Also, last weekend, a couple of us went to a captain's meeting for the Long Beach race. One of the adult coaches announced that there will be the first international college dragon boat competition in China in October. She also mentioned that Dr. Chen (who owns all the boats at Long Beach) might be willing to subsidize the winning college team at Long Beach to attend the competition. Although this is not finalized, we wanted to let everyone know of the possibility and perhaps provide a little extra incentive for the upcoming races. Think of it...CHINA.... Hey Team! Before everyone starts getting super busy, we're gonna have 2 fun and relaxed socials this week! Even if you're not on summer crew... if you're in the LA area, PLEASE COME OUT!! We miss you!! Thursday: Post-practice movie run! We're gonna be watching Transformers 2 @ 10:45PM, Mann Village Theatre. More details at Thursday's land practice, or contact Julie/Virginia! Hey all, Good job at practice for those who came despite the low turn out. This is just a reminder of the schedule for the upcoming week. Tuesday - Land Practice at 6:00PM at Drake Thursday - Land Practice at 6:00PM at Drake Saturday - Boat Practice, 9:30, meet at new location Sunday - Boat Practice, 9:30, meet at new location Since most of us do not live in the dorms, we moved our meet up location to the outside of 527 Midvale Ave. in between Levering and Ophir. Please try to be there by 9:30 sharp. We don't want to waste any practice time because we have a limited amount of water time for the upcoming sprints. Evites for those practices will be sent out soon. As a reminder, the sprints are on July 12th and we will have double practices leading up to the race. -dboat officers
