ucladboat Week 1 Updates - Subscribe
Hey guys,

Hope you all had a good zero week and are ready for tryouts!

You guys know the drill.

Tuesday Tryouts 7PM at Drake Stadium

Wednesday BBQ 5-7PM at Nayson's apartment, Atrium Court, on the corner of Strathmore and Levering.

Thursday Tryouts 7PM at Drake Stadium

Hey everyone,

Again, we would like to congratulate everyone on their efforts and performance during the past two days of try outs. Tomorrow will be the day everyone will get a chance to try dragon boating out in the Long Beach Marina. Included below are the list of drivers, the address, and all other information. See you all tomorrow morning.

Meet at Sproul Turnaround at 7:30AM sharp. We will be back to UCLA around 12:30pm. Please come dressed in aquatic athletic attire (men usually wear board shorts and women wear a bathing suit under their shirt and shorts).

Practice is usually not this early but due to our large size, scheduling issues with other team practices arose. It is early, but arrive at 7:30am, we will not wait around for those who are late. As a general advice for those who live in dorms, no dining facilities are open that early. Please prepare something for breakfast.

ucladboat Congratulations :D Oct 7th, 2008 10:05:59 pm - Subscribe
This past weekend UCLA sent one crew up to Treasure Island for the Kaiser Permanente 13th Annual International Dragon Boat Festival. The results you ask?

After an excellent four heats on Saturday, UCLA was placed in Comp A, and became the first college team to do that. We placed 9th out of 12th in comp A!!! Which is 9th out of 107 total teams overall. Congrats guys.
Last but not least, congratulations UCLA for places first in the college division! Yay Gold!!!

Congratulations again to the new members for making it through try-outs. We hope you have a great time with us this year!

Now that we have a final roster, please please PLEASE don't forget to register with Club Sports. There's a $15 registration fee that you pay online. You can either register at home or at the Club Sports office located inside the John Wooden Center on the 2nd floor.
Here's a quick "how to":
- Go to: http://www.recreation.ucla.edu
- Click on "Join a Club" on the left side of the page
- Under step by step instructions, click on HERE
- Sign in and then browse courses, find dragonboat.
- There will be two different Dragonboat links, choose the one with (02) at the end of the name.
After that, you can go to the Club Sports office to pick up your fleece sweater!

Weekly Preview:

Thursday - Land Practice 7PM @ Drake - DON'T BE LATE

Sunday - Boat Practice. Meet at Sproul Turnaround at 9AM, cars will leave at 9:15am.
If you're meeting us there, be there by 10:30am (remember the Long Beach marathon is going on, so it will take longer to get to the beach)
EVITE FOR PRACTICE WILL BE SENT OUT SHORTLY. RESPOND ASAP

Post Race Party - date/place/time - TBD

Here is the schedule for the upcoming week.

Tuesday and Thursday
Land Practice
*NEW PRACTICE TIMES*
8:00PM - 9:30PM at Drake Stadium

Friday
Post-Race Event
Dinner: meet at 7:00pm, at a place TBD. Will be a restaurant in Westwood. Followed by a post-race party at Nayson's apartment (Atrium Court). There will be a $5 charge.

Sunday
Boat Practice
9:30am at Sproul Turnaround. Respond to the evite.

A few announcments. Be sure to register with club sports ($15 fee) by the end of this week. Also, be sure to bring in dues ($170) by Thursday. Cash or checks are fine (make checks payable to "UC Regents"). If you have not paid by Thursday, you will be taken off the roster, seriously.

We are in the process of ordering paddles and pfd's. We're trying to get a deal so the price is as low as possible. We will confirm the orders as soon as we finalize a deal. If you are not sure whether or not you ordered one, talk to one of the officers at practice asap.
