Ringing the peace bell.
Today is the 67th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima which killed at least 118,661 civilians. Three days later, the U. S. dropped a second, bigger atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki, killing 74,000 and injuring as many more. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony is being held today to console the victims of the atomic bombs and to inspire people to strive for the realization of lasting world peace. May such horrors never happen again.
