Well, now it is five sigma. Physicists at the Large Hadron Collider have announced the monumental discovery of physical evidence of the Higgs boson long predicted by the standard model.

After their champagne hangovers wear off the physicists can get on with advancing the science in other areas. Will this lead to evidence in favor of supersymmetry and eventually (gasp!) string theory? Only further experimentation will tell.
