david Where is ScanPST.exe on Windows Vista & Windows XP Office - Subscribe

I received a call from our Houston office today (here at work), letting me know that they were having an issue with one of the terminals. Seems as though Microsoft Office Outlook was displaying and error upon populating the .pst file.

Well obviously you would use the ScanPST.exe but heck, Where is ScanPST on Windows Vista & Windows XP Office? Well here are the locations for you. Hopefully this will save you some time.

Location of Windows Vista ScanPST.exe
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

Location of Windows XP ScanPST.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMapi\1033\Scanpst.exe

Be sure to allow the viewing of hidden files and folders on your machine. If you do not there is a chance that you will not be able to locate the ScanPST.exe file that you need to run.

How to Allow Hidden Files and Folders
Start > Control Panel > Files and Folders or Folder Options > View > Under Hidden Files and Folders > Bubble in Show Hidden Files and Folders > Apply > Ok

Just wondering if anyone knows where to find an existing download of the Hava Player Portable App.

Don't get me wrong, the Hava Player is a great install, but what I am looking for is the portable app / thinstall so that I can put it on my usb 2.0 stick. I believe the installation of the application (non portable is around 80 megs) Which for a player, it is kind of a lot. If we can get that player down to 12 megs, with the ease on no installation of files to a computer now that would be awesome.

For those of you do not know what the Hava Player is come take a look at MyHava.com. This enables you to stream your TV to any computer in your home or anywhere with a connection to the internet. So to have a portable app for this...well that would just be awesome.

Perhaps I will make a the app, but with the way my schedule looks...I really do not have the time to sit down, do a clean install of my system, and thinstall the Hava Player. If anyone can help in this venture that would be great.

Annoying little action script error that continues to prompt as a debugging tool for Adobe Flash. The Error is Ustream - Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent.

So does anyone have a fix or has any insight on a possible one. I can only imagine the hundreds to thousands of users who come through here daily that are experiencing this annoying little prompt.

Entry explains How to Fix Remote Desktop No Error Message Problem. For all of you that are having problems with Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Connection, I may have a(n) answer for you. The issue occurs when you try and access the PC with Remote Desktop. Well it doesn't give you an error, but simply wait's for a couple of seconds, then appears to time out. It took me a couple of hours to find what the error was, but luckily I got it fixed.

Well first off I will list everything that I did try, to make sure that the program was working and not corrupted in anyway.

What I verified during my troubleshooting

[See your router] Made sure my ports were forwarded.
Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties > Remote. Check marked Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer
Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties > Remote. Check marked Allow users to connect remotely to this computer
Start > Run > CMD. Able to telnet with commands 'telnet myipaddress port
Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions Tab > Edit. Checked my firewall and gave it Remote Desktop permissions to work outside of it.

How I fixed the Remote Desktop No Error Message Problem
I realized that I wanted to try the vertical options that my 21' LCD monitor had. That is when I knew that's when I started having problems. I figured that Remote Desktop was unable to tell my PC that it was flipped vertically, and not horizontally. So rather than settling with a horizontal monitor and conforming to my problem, I decided to update the drivers.

When I updated my Nvidia GeForce 7800 to the latest drivers and rebooted. Boom! I was able to connect remotely from another PC. So there you go, of you guys are having issues try updating your video drivers. This issue has something to do with Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop not recognizing monitor changes, and not knowing how to deal with it. There for the system gives you no error, because it's clueless.

i know it's been over a year since i last wrote. so it would seem i am already gone..and in lots of ways i am. i really enjoy looking back on my entries of who i used to be from time to time...and other times, my own writing and pain disgusts me. it's strange...yet feels so normal. i've moved on in so many ways so even though i love this place for giving me a secret place to voice all my thoughts, my pain, and my secrets...i think i may be ready to start writing again. for the sake of people i know reading what i write. a place where my picture shows up as well as my first name and they know exactly who is writing that entry. for me, that place cannot be this place. this place holds my many secrets from my past...and through this place i met many ppl, who most likely...like me have moved on. so i am moving on and getting a new blog finally, one i will share with others...but this one will always hold my past, my anger, my hurt, and my pain...i will forever miss this place...but i will be back, time and time again...to look back on my past and who i used to be. thank you for being there in a time of my life when i needed it...and for saving this part of who i used to be...i look forward for the first time in my life, to what the future may bring for me..

How to Backup Files and Access them Remotely

For the past month I have been backing up my files remotely. I am storing all music, software, and photos on a remote server.

The idea is to store and back up all of my .jpg, jpeg, .gif, .png, .doc, .docx, .db, .sql, .htm, .html, .php, .asp, .xml, .bin, .ink, .3g2, .torrent, .bmp, .psd, .psp, .pspimage, .fla, .swf, .ai, . .zip, .rar, .iso, .img, .exe, .bat, .cmd, .avi, .xvid, .divx, .cfg, .svg, .rom, .log, .dll, files so that I can access them at a later date.

The only reason why I am backing up is to store what means the most to me. I have organized my files, functions, themes, and profiles, in such a way that I will never have to worry about hardware.

If I have a drivers disk that I will need, I make it into a .ISO and simply back it up to my 1TB external drive, which then syncs to my remotely hosted account.

It is said that your data is only safe if you back it up three times. Once in your home, secondly at an office, and third remotely at a server that is other than where you live.

Many people are afraid of the remote server personal accessing there files, and I do understand that. My recommendation is to encrypt your files. I won't go into encrypting files here, but if you do a google search perhaps you will find what you need. From there you will have the ability to upload your encrypted files and have them hosted.

Some remote file hosting websites that I recommend are safe and private. Here is a list for you to try out.

Creative210 best fuqing idea ever. yea. I usually wonder in the middle for access out of tight situations. but agreed, when there is a hoard coming at you its best to corner and check your angels. I wait for my members to reload, then I blast the shoty.

ExGentleman: even when you're running into a room/area to clear it out, find the nearest corner, blast your way to it and then camp there to clear the rest. better than just running in blind and you take a lot less damage, if any

Creative210: Another great idea, whats funny is I personally think 'real life', and I can tell you this I would never camp, but in L4D it's a must...for every 70% you shoot out...the other 30% belongs to camping and exploring.

ExGentleman: weird, i've thought about it too. my first reaction would be to camp, but the game offers the ability to know the horde is gonna stop coming at some point.

Creative210: agreed, what do you think about the sound actions? Good for gamers, bad for real life action? Agreed? Can you imagine a horde coming for you with out warning? I think it would be awesome.

ExGentleman: It absolutely would make the game harder. It would be cool for Valve to offer a "super expert" mode at some point in a patch that takes out the music cues.

1-4-1 Zero music all enviromental sounds...perhaps even wildlife giving warnings, birds, deer, surviror screams, etc...they make it too easy for the non zombie mainstream fanatic.
