| I got to experience something interesting recently. We were on the way home from Omaha, past San Antonio, and I was driving. It was around 12:00am. I see a deer start to cross the road, so I brake hard; enough such that I could have stopped from hitting the dear. I did not see it in front anymore so I kept going. Another car was in the other lane coming in my direction. At this point I passed the spot were the deer was and the other car just passed by. I was looking in the side mirror for some reason. I guess I wondered where the deer went. Then I hear a smashing sound, like that of swinging a baseball bat against the side of a car and crushing cans. A very quick, loud sound. At the same time I see the deer explode as the car hits it. In the mirror, it seemed to splatter. I could see parts fly. The car briefly slowed and I slowed. Then they just kept going up the hill. I drove away. I thought about going back to see the carnage, but we kind of wanted to get home and I have seen many roadkill remains on the same highway. The sound was the most distinct. I have been in 3 car accidents, and it did not sound like that. It was different. I guess the other car was blinded by my headlights, the way I could not see where it went. Five seconds sooner and I would have hit it, most likely totaling the car. |

I was cleaning up stuff in the bathroom when I found the old vials filled with coke and other stuff. One was just coke, another had a nail in it, another had a nickel, and the last one, I can not remember. They are probably about 10 years old. I used to get urges to see what was in them but always left them alone, until today. All of them were syrupy goo. Kind of taffyish. I used a screw to mix it up. The nail was in little brittle pieces. It was mostly dissolved. I could not find the nickel at all. There was a couple of little chunks that did not look anything like metal. I think the third vial might have contained a penny. Nothing is in there anyway. So the moral is that coke dissolves things. |
