I am sick, or at least I think I am. I didn't make the connection right away, and thought it was something else. At first I thought my throat was raw from shouting useless information loudly, which it probably was as well. So I was keeping it moist with water. And it seemed to be getting better. That was Sunday. Sunday night I was eating Maruchan Instant Lunch with shrimp, when it felt like I got a shrimp stuck in my throat. Coughing and snorting did not make the discomfort go away. Sometimes I felt like I was going to vomit. Well, I went to bed hoping I would not choke, and felt slightly better in the morning. Monday, again I kept my throat wet. I still thought it was raw from the alleged shrimp and wordless shouting. Tuesday, I woke up with a sore throat similar to the kind associated with being sick. Also I could feel pressure further up the respiratory system. My nose is slightly stuffy, but not really like being sick. It is not runny or congested, but there is slight pressure in that area. Also I feel blushed, which probably means I have a fever, but while it feels like my face does when it is red, it is not and is slightly cool. Slightly around my eyes is a little discomfort, but not too bad yet. It's the kind of burning I get when eating skittles or starburst. If I was to guess, I would think I got sick from the very close proximity to people I encountered Saturday. That is all |

Definitely sick. The progression went as follows: So I had that sore throat, but it went away. It was replaced by a constant runny nose. Typical. I got some pseudoephedrine to stop congestion, but I still needed an antihistamine. My nose was raw and painfully. I felt a little stuffy. Friday, my head is a little more congested. Not so much of a runny nose. It still runs, but not as much. Probably due to the loratadine I'm taking. That took about 10 hours to kick in though, if it is working. I'll continue to take that. Now my left ear is plugged. I have a lot of pressure on the left sinuses. This is a typical cold. It may be over in a couple of days or last a month. Annoying |

Changes as follows: I'm not taking drugs anymore. They were just symptom relieves anyway. I'm not really congested. I breath through both nostrils. If I let up on the water, my throat gets a little dry quicker than normal. Dripping no longer occurs from my nose, although it is possible it is still going down my throat, but I doubt it. I am starting to cough up the accumulated phlegm in my throat/lungs. I'm not really sure where it accumulates. I guess I'll have to look that up later. The pressure in my left ear isn't gone yet, but it is much less annoying. Every so often my sinuses will release pressure. It makes that little squeaking noise, one gets when sick. It feels very nice. Pressure builds up slightly and then releases. Sometimes it makes crunching noises. I'm sure there must be a scientific name for it. But if you've been sick, you probably know what I'm talking about. My voice is scratchy and crackles. I like to keep track of when I've been sick and document progression and symptoms. I used to write it down, but it seems better to put it on a blog where it is more easily accessible. |

I just read the SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT for Sun's Solaris 10. This software is free. What I thought was interesting is: "(f) You may not publish or provide the results of any benchmark or comparison tests run on Software to any third party without the prior written consent of Sun." I thought this was interesting as well, "(i) Software may contain programs that perform automated collection of system data and/or automated software updating services. System data collected through such programs may be used by Sun, its subcontractors, and its service delivery partners for the purpose of providing you with remote system services and/or improving Sun's software and systems." You can read it hear: link It's only four pages. You also have to give personal information. I could lie, but I didn't want to. I hope they don't call. Well, I am still going to try it out and I'll report back of any failures or success. I wonder what could be considered a benchmark? I had to edit this because the google keyword thing error messed it up. I didn't notice when I reposted. |

I finally got a dvd burner. It's a NEC ND-3540A. It is supposed to be pretty good. I got it from Newegg. And here is the info so I don't have to pull out the drive in order to see it again. I'm not sure what I could possibly need, but it is always a pain to take the drives out. Mostly, it's for firmware updates, I guess. EAN CODE 5 028695 370616 Model ND-3540A Manufactured Jun 2005 Made in Malaysia SN 56NG0155112 Supports: 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM I made 1 burn already. I got a 25pack of DVD-R 4.7GB free with my burner from Newegg, but it added $4 for shipping, but it was still an ok deal. I burnt the Solaris 10 iso. The burn went fine and everything was good. I am happy. Unfortunately I didn't leave an 8GB partition open, so I couldn't install it. Right now I don't feel like going through a re-setup just for experimental reasons. I wasn't really prepared anyway and my wireless card is not supported. I was going to do gentoo Linux first, but you need internet access to do the fully custom setup, I think. I don't see the point of gentoo, without the fully custom setup. I also tried Ubuntu again. It's nice but unfortunately to install the kernel source, as far as I can tell, you need to use apt-get. But for that to be successful, you need internet of course. So I need internet to install the kernel source to install my wireless card. A roll eye gif is appropriate here. Of course I have not researched that much. There probably is a way. Eventually, I'll get prepared and go somewhere where I can hook up to a wired lan and do a gentoo setup. I'd settle for something else in the mean time. Pins:
