I got a playstation so that I could play Resident Evil. I played it at a friends house and got addicted. I went out and bought the $55 Directors cut with the preview to part 2. Then I watched as the price of that game drastically dropped. Also disturbing was the fact that the directors cut added basicaly nothing. Since then I have never payed more than $20 for a game. The natural progression of games seems that eventually they all drop under $20. For PC games, it also means that most likely a game that is a couple of years old will be able to run at best quality for everything on the current computer. Then there are patches available and there are mods. Dowsides of course are that the game may not be available such as Star Trek: Bridge Commander and multiplayer will possibly be unpopulated. Ok, so I bought Neverwinter Nights at Fry's for $20 because I remember it being a highly reccomended game and I am sick of the first person cliche ridden shooters. It turns out it is my new addiction. It is still a little difficult to figure out how some things work since I am new to Dungeons and Dragons and the idea of rollinging. But still it is time consuming and enjoyable. Multiplayer options seem to be a lively populated envirnment still after 2 years. So once I finnish the single player, I can go play online some more. So in summary, I enjoy playing NWN. Having the time to play it is good as well. |

I got my tires rotated and balanced today. First time. I finally got around to it. 45000 miles in. The wobble noise was getting to be too much. Plus my brother had a blow out recently and his were making the wobble sound around 30k. Must be some good tires too. The tread is not worn very much. Firestone Wilderness HT's. Many similar sounding tires have been recalled, but not mine. I got the $30 "special," rotation for life. I do not expect the tires to last past 60k, but I thought I might as well. Strange that over here they offer the $1.50 rotation, but in San Antonio, they do not and they told me they did not do that anymore. Nice thing about a small town is I get in and get it done in less than 20 minutes. No waiting. This was a big accomplishment for me. I have been putting this off since about 15k. The thing that annoyed me though was the grime left on my steering wheel and shifter. You will not get that at Ford, but it will cost a premium. Also thought I would try coffee again. It was there and I was tired so I thought I would try it. If I get a migraine, I will know why. |
| Why does Microsoft Word have to be such a pain in the ass? I had my resume perfect. All the things I wanted were right. All formating was aligned. It was as perfect as I could make it. I accepted all the changes, saved as a new file and was content. I hate working with Word, but since I was under the impression most companies wanted Word format, that is how I made it. (It turns out they all want text resumes so I could have just stuck with openoffice.org.) But I did not. I have a lot of time invested in the resume and was pleased with it. I even burned it to cd. I printed it out later several times. Nothing changed. Now today when I need to count on it, when I opened it, either from cd or hard drive, it is fucked up. On two different computers. It takes up two pages, the font is wrong, and my much painstakingly effort at alignment is for not. The formating is fucked. I took a couple of weeks making this with my brothers with documenting changes and such. This was version 12 or something like that. It was as good as we deemed it would be. Now I have to waste time formating and fixing it when I need to be sleeping. I am annoyed right now. Sorry for the cussing, I normally do not do that. I need to vent. |

I finished the single player campaign of Neverwinter Nights. It is a good game with lots of gameplay. I played as an elf/human ranger. I should have read more guides because I did not realize I could use magic until about level 12 or so. It was half way through the first campaign before I realized I needed a henchman. I went with Linu La'neral. She was kind of weak, but I wanted a cleric. I finished up at level 16, almost to 17. I probably would have been higher if I had done all the side quests in the first chapter. I had also about 170000 gold left over. I guess I should have spent more but I tended to horde things. I had about 20 magic bags. Things that bugged me about the game are all the containers and chests everywhere. In the beginning they were a valuable resource, but towards the end, they got annoying. I wanted to look in all of them, but that took a lot of time. Also the whole time travel thing bothered me. Though that was a plot element, it still made me roll my eyes and say, "that is stupid." The fight music got on my nerves after the first couple of times. It made me turn down the music. Overall I liked the game. It is the first RPG I have played. I think they also call it turn based. Not sure. It is very much different from the games I am used to playing. Most happily, I do not get dizzy. The non fight music was a nice change at being classical. Towards the end, when lots of people were interacting, my super fast ATI 9200se was unable to keep up. (I bought it for tv abilities and at the time I no longer gamed.) I think maybe I will get the expansion packs. I think now however I might play Arcanum, if I can find it. Or maybe I should finish Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Games played and finished since becoming degreed and unemployed: Quake 2 Blood 2 Carmageddon 2 Quake 3 Quake 3 Team Arena Unreal Tournament Neverwinter Nights It is nice to be able to have the time to play these without them distracting with something else. |
