I finished the single player campaign of Neverwinter Nights. It is a good game with lots of gameplay. I played as an elf/human ranger. I should have read more guides because I did not realize I could use magic until about level 12 or so. It was half way through the first campaign before I realized I needed a henchman. I went with Linu La'neral. She was kind of weak, but I wanted a cleric. I finished up at level 16, almost to 17. I probably would have been higher if I had done all the side quests in the first chapter. I had also about 170000 gold left over. I guess I should have spent more but I tended to horde things. I had about 20 magic bags.
Things that bugged me about the game are all the containers and chests everywhere. In the beginning they were a valuable resource, but towards the end, they got annoying. I wanted to look in all of them, but that took a lot of time. Also the whole time travel thing bothered me. Though that was a plot element, it still made me roll my eyes and say, "that is stupid." The fight music got on my nerves after the first couple of times. It made me turn down the music.
Overall I liked the game. It is the first RPG I have played. I think they also call it turn based. Not sure. It is very much different from the games I am used to playing. Most happily, I do not get dizzy. The non fight music was a nice change at being classical.
Towards the end, when lots of people were interacting, my super fast ATI 9200se was unable to keep up. (I bought it for tv abilities and at the time I no longer gamed.) I think maybe I will get the expansion packs. I think now however I might play Arcanum, if I can find it. Or maybe I should finish Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Games played and finished since becoming degreed and unemployed:
Quake 2
Blood 2
Carmageddon 2
Quake 3
Quake 3 Team Arena
Unreal Tournament
Neverwinter Nights
It is nice to be able to have the time to play these without them distracting with something else.
