I got these headphones at Frys last Saturday for about $20. They are great. Overall, I guess the sound quality is not too bad compared to the old pioneer ones I used to use. Unfortunately, the cord went bad on those. They probably lasted about 15 years. The Philips sound better than the usual ones that come with portable media players and also the Sony MDR-V100 model that I have had a couple of over the years. But most importantly, these headphones do not hurt my ears! I have big ears so most headphones have a tendency to hurt usually after a few minutes. Sometimes taking off my glasses will push back the time limit, but on these I can use the headphones and glasses at the same time. It is great. In the past couple of days I have rediscovered how much I like to just sit back and daydream to music. Something I lost in all my time living in apartments. I have even decided to buy a portable mp3/cd player because of these. My old portable sony has trouble playing a cd-r and I lost the power adapters.

So what are the strengths?

3 meter cord
decent sound
COMFORT!

It comes with individual volume adjustment, if someone was to need that. I just use the pause button. The reason I choose these is because I was looking for an over the ear type headphones for around $20. It was between these, the Sony MDR-V150, and a panasonic model. I actually was going to get the panasonics because I thought the Philips were $30 (improperly labeled.) But it was simple, the HP170 was the biggest. I bought them in the hope they would fit around my big ears. And they do.
