Where to go?

I can't decide where to go and how. For sure I want to do the Bush Mountain trail to Bush Mountain peak. I would stay the night at that campsite as well. Then I could keep going the next day to the Marcus camp, a place I want to go because of it's unpopularity and isolation. Plus then I can hike to New Mexico. Then I would like to go to Dog Canyon and refill water and continue to the Mescalero camp. Finally go to Hunters peak and down the Bear Canyon Trail. That is the ideal path I want to take. Day 1, 6.2 miles; day 2, 8.3 miles; day 3 , 8.8 miles; and day 4, 9.2 miles. All tough day hikes. And that means carrying 3 gallons of water or 24lbs, which means my pack would be over 50 pounds. So much for lite packing. I'm tempted to ditch the tent and sleep in a bivy made of trash bags. It will most likely rain.

In comparison, Guadalupe Peak is 8.4 miles round trip and difficult. But I've done it twice in poor shape with bad shoes. The next day I feel like not moving.

The alternative would be to go on 2 separate trips and skip the Marcus/Dog Canyon area. Decisions, decisions.

Yeah, I think I figured it out. Skip the stove and gas, half a gallon for cooking, and just bring dried food or non water. That's minus 5 pounds. If I skip the tent, that's another minus 6. That would bring me down probably under 40lbs. I'm really considering it. Trash bags. yeah. But then I have to get a mosquito net. And people are going nuts and are inconsiderate in Walmart for the 'back-to-school' stuff. Too bad there isn't a real sports store in this place.

But I didn't decide where to go
