I think you'll be great on council. You understand "business" and "workers".

I find when I read Bob's web site www.lorriman.ca That it is well thought out and executed. I think Bob has the ability to bring that trait to council. I also know having worked with Bob on some committe's he will consider different points of view. I don't think we can ask much more of people on Council. |

Of all the candidates for council, Bob is the top of the heap. We have all had enough, Bob. To bad there are not five more like you. |

I find it unfortunate that a such a great candidate for council would so blatently score down the importance of the Arts Council in Whistler. Speaking poorly in public about the monetary demands of the arts in Whistler - and in such a negative tone! Does he not believe this is an important part of our future? Our community? I was very dissapointed to hear this said allowed to our public and so close to the election. I had belived he was a great supporter. Arts, culture, history... all so important in building and growing a strong community. And so close to the election Bob. We are dissapointed. |

I agree with bob he is a supporter of the arts in many ways. Listen to the tapes or better yet talk to him. Myself I have had my differences with the arts council, many of my artist friends also have issues with them. Not enough artist representation there, not enough public input, corporate board members, input and goals? I think someone like bob would help to listen to the artists and the public. |

On behalf of the Whistler Arts Council staff and Board, I would like to clarify that the anonymous comment made about Bob Lorriman on Nov 17th regarding his alleged comments about, "speaking poorly in public about the monetary demands of the arts in Whistler....", was not posted by our organization. I was prepared to vote for Bob. I don't know him. He looks good on paper. He's done is community time. Why would he care about who Hugh endorses? I was troubled by the reporting in yesterday's Pique about this. Why don't you feel comfortable about going public with the fact that you, Marianne, and Gordon are endorsing Ted? I want to vote for you, but there is something unsettling about this. |
anonymous - November 18th, 2005
Yes - no kidding. Bob has run on being open, honest and transparent but doesn't respect voters enough to show his own participation on the Ted slate. It's sad. There are other great candidates whose words can be trusted thank goodness. |
anonymous - November 18th, 2005
Tell me who you think those candidates are. I am voting for Ralph, Inge, Nancy, and Eckhard. I know I can only vote for four if I want to, but I don't want any of the incumbents to sneak in there. I don't want to vote for Tim and I am unsure about Michael and Bob. Give me some advice. Sonya is nice, but I think she is most effective doing what she has been doing for the last 15 - 20 years. We need her on the front line. We don't need her in politics. Community service is a big factor for me so I can't see myself voting for people who haven't put their time in and who aren't informed. |

Even thought I differ with Bob on an issue or two, I have the highest respect for Bob's ability to listen, and his commitment to work as a team. Once a council decision has been made, I am sure Bob will champion it, no matter what his original position was. This way we can move forward. |

Yes, I had a great talk yesterday with Bob and we discussed many issues not just ‘election issues’ and although not knowing him before this election, I was impressed with his honesty and willingness to engage the people. When we discussed unrelated issues to this election and I was impressed that he was able to make the time to talk and send me the information, almost right away. This was no election ploy, he was just to helping me out. This personal interest was something you don’t find in many candidates, especially at this time of the campaign. I believe he is a genuine ‘Nice guy’ not out for anything but a better Whistler.

Bob Lorriman is a relative newcomer to Whistlers' political scene. I have found him to be a very bright individual capable of understanding a relatively complex issue including some of it's less obvious nuances. These attributes combined with an open and impartial mind, are exactly what's needed on our Municipal Council.

What a great day of Whistler, we now have an excellent team and I am extremely honoured to be included.
Ken has put forward a focused 60 day plan, which I, (and I’m sure the other new Councillors) will work extremely hard with him to achieve and move Whistler forward. I am very excited and can’t wait to get started.
Congratulations and thank you Duane – what an incredible project (and journey) you got us all started on . . . now let’s all keep this blog going !
