Gord has been the business representative on council and it was only in June that Gord admitted that there was a problem with the local business and the economy in Whistler. This is after 4 years of falling business. Gord is so busy talking that he forgets to listen. Micro-managing at council level has been a major stumbling block for Gord. Please do not allow Gord to bring his bad habits to the next council.

Talking less and listening more - probably good advice for many, including myself. Listening to people is certainly my intent when I consistently attend various community forums on "hot" topics. The reason I list my personal cell phone number on my council business cards, the council web site, my campaign ads, etc is so people can easily contact me to share their views and concerns. Micro managing(?) - a specific example or two would be helpfull. Lack of awareness of the economy - totally false. To quote Councillor Lamont "Gordon spearheaded efforts from the start of this term to keep Council and staff informed regarding the fluctuating economic indicators." My 2002 campaign website, featured complete and unedited with my current campaign site, also articulates those concerns. Thanks for your input. Gordon McKeever

Gordon, you have always impressed me with your committment to the community's requirements, first and foremost. You stand by your word and you act with great integrity, an unforunately rare quality found amongst our Whistler politicians and stakeholders these days. I hope you are re-elected so the Whistler community can continue to benefit from your experience and knowledge. My vote is with you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts anonymous. One of the most common questions I get now-a-days is "who do you want to work with as Mayor?"

I am not endorsing any Mayor. Whoever the community selects, I may well be there and have to work with them. If I am included on any candidate's list of preferred councillors it is because a few of the council candidates took the initiative to seek out some of the leading candidates for mayor to better understand them and to gauge our ability to work together to get things done. Ted's decision of a good fit is his choice. If it turns out to be Ken, Kristi or whomever I hope we can all start with a positive relationship and hit the ground running.

The critical thing is the style of governance we operate under. My strongest concern for change is to see a more effectively engaged council as a collective body, instead of the closed mayor-administrator tag team style that has been the status quo for many years. Another crucial need is for better genuine engagement of the community in setting priorities and making decisions.

It was due to these concerns that I was the chief proponent for our review of the governance model. The model has been altered and adopted, but not put fully into effect yet. I certainly hope I'm there to help see these changes through. We need to put this community back in the hands of this community.

I wish you the very best of good luck in getting your task completed Gordon. Clearly, Whistler needs you.

Gordon's posts are typical of his performance on Council - a whole lot of words packed into small and unremarkable ideas. At what price continuity? Fresh blood please!

Gordon McKeever has proven himself as one of the hardest working councilors we've seen in a long time. He defines the meaning of being 'engaged' with our community and has used his first term on council to thoroughly absorb much of the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of our municipal hall. This term I expect those efforts will turn into action!

Chris Manuel,
Whistler since '89

Thank you all who lent their support. This has been a campaign period with more viciousness and negativity than I've ever seen before. I hope these big city tactics aren't the new norm. To the anonymous assassins - Kharma's gonna getcha for your lies and mean spiritedness!

The best news is the 22% increase in voter turnout. The community has spoken. The results are beyond dispute. Onwards and upwards.

I will be keeping my campaign site on-line so the goals I stated are there for all to see, and hold me accountable. My cell number is 604-932-1343. All are welcome to call me with any issues or conerns.

Thanks for the expression of confidence.

Gordon McKeever
