Kristi, in her role as council member has displayed her ability to be a true politician. Her track record demonstrates instances where she stymied the process to maintain a neutral position for fear of making a decision that "some people" wouldn't agree with. We need a leader in this position, not a fence sitter that she has proven to be. |

No one on council used the words "consult" and "study" more the Kristi. She is a political boat anchor that Whistler Council will thankfully be free of for the next 3 years. |

Just wondering when you are going to add some comment and "meat" to you website, instead of just the facade that currently exists? |

Over the years, Kristi has been brilliant at doing nothing for the first 90% of each term, then suddenly re-appears in time for an election - we get it and you Kristi. We need a full time Mayor, not a part-time ineffective, power hungry, self-absorbed one! |
anonymous - October 29th, 2005
Kristi missed 20% of the council meetings this year. (The minutes are available at www.whister.ca ) . Kristi did not attendand council meetings from Nov 7, 2004 all the way to February 7, 2005. Four meetings in all. Is this the dedication we need? |

A political beast running our town, sorry I don't think so! |

Kristi displays an astoundingly consistent ability to miss the point in council meetings. Hostile to staff, combative and an ability to admit when she knows nothing about subject matter - yet willing to expound on her ignorance. --- Lee --- |

Kristi, I listented to the audio tapes of the Whistler Forum meeting held on the weekend. Your answers were clear and concise and obviously you are very informed on the issues. I wish you the best of luck. Whistler needs a level headed leader. |

Any illegal suites in your house, Kristi? |
anonymous - November 16th, 2005
I too listened to the audio recordings. I think you are best spoken of the candidates, certainly very informed and I think a great mayor - good luck. |
anonymous - November 16th, 2005
Kristi is well spoken, but I think has a bit of a "checkered" past. Why does she actually want to be Mayor??? Anyone know?? |
anonymous - November 16th, 2005
By checkered you mean what exactly? I hope you’re not implying any impropriety. |
anonymous - November 17th, 2005
Chequered. Unless you're posting from the U.S.
I haven't seen any response from Kristi as to whether or not she has an illegal suite in her home. The existence of an illegal suite would imply, to me, impropriety. |

Kristy Wells talks the talk but doesn't appear to walk the walk....beware of voting for someone that says one thing and does another! |
anonymous - November 17th, 2005
All very good advice and I’ll take that into consideration when casting my vote. I’m not sure that the issue of an illegal suite has much to do with my decision to vote for her. As far as I can tell, she’s well spoken, conciliatory, broad minded and I think a great image for Whistler as we head into a very public time. In my view, no other mayoral candidate has all these qualities.
Ted is a bully, Ken is changing stripes, Nick is… well let’s just say Nick doesn’t have my vote.

Ted is a proven liar (Sun, March 29 1997).
Ken, like anyone else moves into a different situation, must re-evaluate his views.
Nick is outspoken and does not try to be all things to all voters, but tries to get things done that he thinks are of benefit to Whistler.
Kristi is dedicated and a good public speaker, but illegal suites are a deal-breaker. Shane Bennett, of all people, made a good point on his website:
But when you hold elected office you walk the walk and talk the talk no exceptions. As double the fine for speeding in construction zone it is in many peoples mind far worse if you bend or break the laws when holding public office and totally unacceptable if you are championing the employee housing cause. |

Kristi I liked how you handled your self during the debate. However your failure to follow through on your word cost you my vote |
anonymous - November 18th, 2005
Kristi has played her last desperate card using American style politics in today's Question: Kristi knows, but most of us don't, that it is not necessarily the councillors who choose which committee they chair or participate in. The mayor makes that choice for them.
I was at M.Y. place on Sunday. I heard Councillor Melamed explain exactly why he voted 'no' to endorsing the Olympic bid and it seems the audience was pleased with the explaination, judging by the deafining applause. |

I liked the ad. Concise and informative. |

I am a past tenant of Kristi Wells and my good friends and their baby are her current tenants. She is an awsome landlord, who provides a fully furnished suite including curtains at an absolutely affordable price. Talking about affordable housing. She charges less than the WHA would. She has an old cabin in Emerald that included a suite after the sewer went in. Obviously, some other candidate who is threatened by her broad support with young families has started this totally false rumor. Chris |

The point is that the suite contravenes municipal zoning. Many people have illegal suites in their homes. But that does not make it right, and an elected official should play by the rules. |
anonymous - November 18th, 2005
Let's see - two suites in her house, her special developer "friends", her not showing up for council and committee meetings until election time, her dragging out and non-involvement in the CSP process, ...... all facts. Bury your head in the sand if you must - Whistler deserves much much better!! |
anonymous - November 19th, 2005
Interesting how personal attacks tend to come anonymously and without validation. There is no evidence supporting your claims and I count two meetings missed this year out of all of them listed at www.whistler.ca. This is absenteeism?
I believe in voting for someone who has the ability, energy and passion for Whistler now and into the future. Talk is cheap, results only come by hard work. I see an impressive range of meetings that Kristi has chaired and tangible results obtained over the many years. She can think on her feet, communicate clearly, and stand up to anyone. She has my vote. Rob

For Mayor, I'm uneasy about the divisiveness and the un-spoken intentions of both of the 'front runners'. I'll be voting for Kristi Wells to lead our new council team forward. For the fourteen years that I've followed her career, she has consistently overcome the derogatory stereotypes and exceeded most people's expectations, all with a professional composure that Whistler can be proud of. Kristi may appear to be 'a rose' amongst a bush of thorns, but she is just as skilled and capable as the matador in a ring of bulls.
