Stacy, how do you view the proposed Rainbow development? More accurately, why on earth is 19,000 sq ft of commercial going forward?.....This nodal development in the valley is bizarre, and destorying the town. Why dont bayshores, alta vista, nordic, white gold etc.........have commercial??>...its not necessary...and its a developers grab. Its absolute madness. An RMOW bureaucrat this week stated: 'i dont see this causing a problem. its 19,000 added to a million. its minor' MINOR??.....a bigger than creekside supermarket in rainbow wont affect nesters , iga etc and the valley???? I think madness.....curious on your thoughts

it is my belief that the RMOW should be encouraging a total slow-down on retail and hotel space. there is much needed to do to get the existing spaces running at maximum occupancy and authenticity.

i too do not see a need for more retail or hotel space in this town.

will you be attending the debates/forums?

please do.

I would like to know why the All Candidates Forum on Novmeber 5th is closed to a "public" question and answer period. I understand each candidate gets 3-5 minutes to speak and then, if the community wants to ask questions, it can only be done, one-on-one so the public does NOT get the opportunity to hear other Whistler locals concerns. DO you think Nebbeling had anything to do with convincing the Chamber to present this "first time" format because he is afraid of being attacked by questions regarding his political record, his past as a very poor leader? I surely hope this town doesn't get a sudden shot of amnesia on Nov 19th, regarding his record, as he is hoping. Ineed to hear the spontaneous and unrehearsed responses to the questions we have.

Note: Check out the important dates section for other chances to be 'one-on-one'. As far as I know tomorrow (Thursday 27th) at Function next to Altitude computers, Ted is also having a meet and greet type event starting at 4:30pm.

I'ts way down at the bottom of the page! It did get bumped (as well as a couple others) to page two yesterday because of the new topics added but I changed it back to a single page format at the end of the day.

Nice spin on the Chambers decision to change their format. Political hacks hard at work.

The Chambers decision might have had something to do with the logistics dealing with 24 candidates, all with a valid view. I have seen this spin over and over, even with a letter to the editor. Ask any chamber board member for the facts. There is a WORCA event on November 3, where you can ask questions. There is also the Whistler Forum event of November 13th. That is open to Mayoral candidates only, and it will have a public question and answer period. Lots of time for debate. The candidates are even able to debate amongst themselves. Then on the 14th the Arts council has an all candidates meeting, with a question, answer and debate period. Is this enough opportunities for you to ask questions?
