Jamey, I think it's important that the public at large, via this open forum state what they believe are the issues in this election. This will assist those who are running for office truly know what is on the mind of the electorate so they can address those issues.

The accountability, or lack of, from the senior municipal staff |

Housing has been an issue in Whistler for decades. Recently our economy has been in a decline while our neighbors Vancouver and Squamish have had an increase in tourism. With the election on the horizon we must take a look at all of the candidates to see how much of all of these ammeneties will cost while keeping our taxes the same. A solution is to seek help from a federal and provincial level to maintain a healthy infrastructure. |

Ditto on the accountability, or lack thereof, from teh senior municipal staff. I think the ice rink fiasco actually showed them (council?) that we as a community want our opinions heard and not that of "the shirts in the muni". |

Having no snow for a winter and how there can be alternatives to stimulate the economy. We only have to take a look at the past years to see that this global trend may happen again. There are no quick fix to the solution however it may be a real problem for the years. Steve Jiu |

One item that didn't make your list is "governance", as in transparency, accountability and effective community engagement (somewhat touched on above). Another is 1st Nations Olympic Legacy crown land claims. Resolving this issue will be an enormous part of the challenges facing the new council. Gordon McKeever |

What's with the resident housing owned and used by non-residents? There are one or two employee housing developments in this town that are empty during the week and full on weekends. Maybe these are owned by or rented by employees that only work in Whistler on weekends, but I doubt it. |

I think an issue that is affecting our resort is the accountability (or lack there of) on the part of rental managers and/or individuals claiming to be rental managers. Our precious dollars, brought in by tourists, are being used to satisfy the condo owners first, the managers second and thirdly the guests. Our visitors have not been receiving the service that they deserve! Tourism Whistler has not been able to manage the 99+ “rental managers” in town and it is time that this is looked at as a serious issue. |

The new council has not been sworn in and they are already lining up for the best flights to Torino. Same for staff. Who are us taxpayers sending over to watch skiing anyway? |

Can any of the new Council members provide some insight to these questions? They are definitely reasonable concerns. |
